Cait A. ROSI is a great find if you enjoy post-punk and new/dark/cold wave. This album contains hints of bands I love, like The Cure, Psychedelic Furs, Bauhaus, and even Radiohead, but is fresh and unexpected. Tracks include the soaring and melodic Walls; the sunny slow groove of Fine Wine; moody, sax-infused Ordinary Room; lovely, dreamy Fences; the nicely dark and ominous Door; Complaints, a new wave ode to today's world; and for the dance club, Forgotten World and Lippen. ROSI - SAD DANCE SONGS (CD/LP 27.11.2020 – DISENTERTAINMENT/in a bad mood/Broken Silence)

SVEN ROSENKÖTTER and MIRCO RAPPSILBER started to work on their third album
SAD DANCE SONGS in February 2020. The title of the album is inspired by a pithy description of the sound on „Grey City Life“ (LP/CD 2016) by a journalist.

In June, ROSI announced their transfer to the DISENTERTAINMENT-label (Bonn), to find a wider audience beside the pure Post-Punk fanbase. A highlight in Summer 2020 - and a little break from working on the album - was a live session, which was recorded/produced professionally by five cameras and streamed on various social media channels in mid July.

Musically, ROSI stay true to themselves and don't deny their roots. Nevertheless the sound got a wider range and tracks like „Complaints“ also show some further electronic influences with the catchyness of early Synthpunk. „Lippen“ („Lips“) is a beautiful mixture of Minimal-Synth and early 80s Wave guitars and will fill the dancefloors of the Clubs soon.

The origins of the sound are the same as before, but moved on to new borders. It is the transition from the dim view of the late 70s to the many-sided Post-Punk of the early 80s („Forgotten Worlds“) and instead of sinister Weltschmerz there are more playful influences (in „Preface #1“) and catchy guitars (in „Walls“). Overall the sound turns more „New Wave“ and introversion changed to more lightness. That results from developed possibilities in the recording process at the ROSI homestudio, produced by ROSI and Jan-Niklas Jansen, with the Mixdown done by Jan-Niklas Jansen at Bear-Cave-Studio (Cologne). The mastering of the 10 tracks was done by Jason Corbett „Jacknife Sound“, Vancouver (Canada).

With „Fences“ there is another atmospheric song for calm hours at home on a rainy Sunday afternoon. By the way, the concluding track „Kadenz #1“ - which closes the cycle, that was opened with „Preface #1“ - has a little cameo of Andy Schwarz of Germany's legendary New Wave-band NO MORE.
ROSI take the next step forward consequently with SAD DANCE SONGS and present a third album, that combines the intensity of the predecessors with new influences and will satisfy the Post-Punk scene as it will reach a wider Indie audience. (Alexander Pohle, Hamburg, July 2020)
